You Belong To Me!

I’m going to be a daddy this coming March! It has been a very exciting time for us as a family. My heart has always been set on having a little girl. I’m happy to say that the Lord has been gracious to honor my desire and has given us a little girl!!

I can tell you that I have not met this little girl yet but I love her! I want to make sure she always knows that I love her.

Before I fell asleep the other night I imagined my daughter asking me “Daddy, why do you love me?” and I’m not sure if I said this out loud, but I know that without hesitation I replied “Because you belong to me!”. That statement kept me up for almost an hour. I want my little girl to know that my love is not based on what she does or doesn’t do, but I love her because she is mine. Talk about the heart of God!!

“even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will” Ephesians 1:4-5

I get so caught up in how good I’m doing, thinking that is how God will love me. In reality the Father says to me “Paul I love you because you belong to me!”. He bought me with the blood of his son! I can’t tell you how much peace and joy this brings my heart.

Friend if you have found salvation in Jesus, know that you belong to Him and the Father loves you not because of anything you have done but because you simply belong to him. It’s here that you’ll find that his immeasurable power is working for you, changing you, helping you, shining through you. That’s about all my heart can handle tonight. Blessings!
