COVID-19 has taught us several things in the past month.
- Your life can literally change in a moments notice.
- Governments are not our saviors.
- We are not in control
- No one knows what they are doing
That all sounds very bleak and grim but I needed to say it so we can all understand that there is literally nothing to grab onto right now.
But there is a hope(a confident expectation) we can trust in. The bible speaks about it often. Just this last week I finished reading Romans and came across this text in chapter 15
We’ve all been there. We’ve been on the receiving end of a question we have no clue what the answer is. What makes it more difficult is when it’s a spiritual question and you are seen as the spiritual person. Many times the world wants us as Christians to answer questions that quite honestly the Bible doesn’t answer. As the Church, we have often marketed the Bible as the book that answers all of life’s questions, but I’m a Bible guy and I still have questions. Continue reading Will My Dog Be In Heaven?
“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,” Philippians 2:12 Continue reading Make It Look Like You Live Here
Before I buy anything I often get weighed down trying to make sure I’m buying the right product because I like to weigh all my options. Why? Because I have options. I could buy this product or service from many different places and I’m looking for who has what I want.

Over the last several months I’ve been participating in something new at our church called Community Bible Reading (CBR, you can find it in your app store). You may be like me in that I struggle to maintain a regular rhythm of scripture reading, but my experience with the CBR has been very helpful and insightful. I would like to share a short thought with you about it. Continue reading Stories
In my last post (click here to read) you saw where I talked about how over the last year I have examined the centrality of the gospel. I’m convinced that our discipleship efforts are not about getting people to duplicate certain behaviors, no matter how noble they are, such as prayer, church attendance, giving and so on. But rather our discipleship efforts should center on convincing people of the Gospel.

During my 20’s, I was part of a church where worship was a big deal. We would worship for extended periods of time and sometimes this would be the only reason we would gather. There were times with no singing or music, just us being quiet before the Lord. This focus on worship just became the culture of our church. I’m 31 and to this day they have nights devoted to times like this. Continue reading Prayer and Worship
